Planning a Budget.

A budget is a financial document that provides an overview of how an organisation is planning to spend its money. Essentially it is the financial reflection of what a non-profit organisation expects to accomplish over a 12-month period.

Introduction on planning a budget for your non-profit organisation.

The aim of this workshop is help participants to understand the process in planning a budget.

Why planning a budget is important for your organisation?

Discussion on what income and expenditure should/shouldn’t be included in planning your budget and why?

What is the difference surrounding restricted and unrestricted funds for your organisation and how is it labelled in your budgeting plan? Eg. Grant funding, Donor sponsorship, fundraising, room hire, training and services.

Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Understand the purpose and concept in planning a budget.

Put in place a realistic budget each year and consider the long term sustainability of the organisation on a regular basis.

Will have the confidence to explain to other members of their organisation why a planned budget is so important for an organisation and it’s short and long term goals.

Who Should Attend

The 1.5/2- hour online workshop is aimed at newly appointed treasurers, Board Members, and CEO’s/Managers and anyone involved in preparing a Budget for their organisation.

About the Trainer

Karen has acquired level 6 FETAC qualification in Train The Trainer and nearly twenty years qualified as an accounting technician. She has vast experience in practices, private sector and non-profit organisations.
