SECAD Sports Development Course Ballincollig

SECAD are running a  Sports Development Course in conjunction with the Sports Partnership.The course will start on Tuesday 24th April and will run for two mornings a week (10.00 am – 1.00 pm) for 6 weeks.  There is an application fee of €25 per person to take part.

We will be holding an Information / Coffee Morning on Tuesday, 17th April 2012 at 10.30 am in the VEC Office in Yeats House, Barrack Square, Ballincollig.

Migraine Association of Ireland National Conference 2012

The Migraine Association of Ireland will hold Ireland’s first ever national conference on Migraine at Work on Thursday, April 19th from 10.00-15.00hrs at the Ashling Hotel, Dublin.

The day is aimed at HR professionals, disability officers, occupational health staff, trade union officials, health and safety officers, employees with migraine, etc.

SECAD Green Your Community Training Programme

SECAD Green Your Community is an environmental training programme for community groups currently taking place in South & East Cork. The programme, which is a joint initiative between An Taisce and the South & East Cork Area Development Ltd, is open to all individuals and community groups in the SECAD area and is free of charge.   There are a few places remaining on the training programme.

Training will be available in several key areas such as biodiversity, invasive species, community gardening and social media. Training sessions will take place on midweek evenings and will be held in both Carrigaline and Midleton. The programme will also include several half-day fieldtrips which will give participants practical hands-on experience in Habitat mapping, Marram Grass planting and Invasive Species management techniques.

Calling All Boxing Fans!

St Johns Amateur Boxing Club are delighted to present “Pre Olympic Fight Night” taking place in Silversprings Moral Hotel on Friday 30th March 2012. Top of the bill is 3 times World Champion, Katie Taylor, who takes on the USA national champion Liz Leddy.  This is Katie’s first fight in Cork and she is using this event to prepare for the 2012 London Olympics!

Volunteers needed to:

1) Steward the event and help assemble boxing ring on Fri 30th March 2012

2) Collect American boxing team from Dublin airport and drive them to Cork on Wednesday 28th March 2012

3) Transport the boxing ring from Macroom to Silversprings Hotel on Thursday 29th March and drive it back on Saturday 31st March 2012

Little Hearts Projects are hosting a Family Fun Day in the Glen Resource Centre on Sunday 22nd April from  2-5pm. Volunteers are needed to help with:

Meet & Greet,   Facepainting,  Story-Telling, Dancing, Selling Candy Floss, Baking, Art, General Promotion.  All other ideas also welcome.
